If done in an honest way, that is to say countering torpor, this yoga posture brings the rooting of energy in the body, strengthens concentration, allows consciousness to imbibe the body with its clarity and so increases the touch of one's innate wisdom in the present moment.

 

If done with the aim of countering insomnia, this posture brings deep relaxation which makes it conducive to falling asleep.
